BUILT FOR MORE THAN THE PISTE

The Story, Spirit & Soul of SnowShepherd

There’s a moment in the mountains that changes everything.

Not the perfect bluebird day.
Not the untouched corduroy.
Not the Instagram version of skiing people try to sell you.

The real moment.

The storm rolling in.
The freezing chairlift.
The visibility disappearing.
The moment your gear either performs… or fails.

SnowShepherd was born from that reality.

Not from fashion trends.
Not from marketing meetings.
Not from people trying to “look” like mountain culture.

SnowShepherd was built by skiers.
For skiers.
For the riders who understand that the mountains reward preparation, resilience and grit.

Because out there, performance matters.

THE NAME: SNOWSHEPHERD

SnowShepherd is more than a brand name.

It’s a family name.

The Shepherd family’s connection to the mountains and winter sports stretches back decades. SnowShepherd was founded in 2009 by Tim Shepherd, originally specialising in avalanche rescue equipment, airbags and off-piste mountain safety.

Long before the brand became known for premium gloves and outerwear, the company existed deep within mountain culture — guiding riders through backcountry terrain, avalanche education and serious alpine conditions.

Then came the turning point.

In 2011, Brandon Shepherd discovered traditional French work gloves being used by locals, ski guides, lift operators and mountain workers in the Alps. These gloves weren’t flashy. They weren’t expensive. But they lasted. Day after day. Storm after storm. Season after season.

That discovery changed everything.

The original gloves sold out almost immediately. What started with just a couple dozen pairs quickly grew into SnowShepherd becoming the UK’s leading independent leather ski glove retailer and eventually a global winter sports brand.

But the name itself means even more than that.

Growing up, Brandon’s mother Kerry Shepherd would always say:

“Don’t be a sheep. You’re a Shepherd.”

That mindset became the soul of the company.

Lead. Don’t follow.
Build differently.
Stand apart from the crowd.

After Kerry Shepherd passed away in 2018, the philosophy became permanently embedded into the SnowShepherd identity — not just as branding, but as a way of thinking.

Today, “DON’T BE A SHEEP” is more than a slogan.

It’s the entire ethos.

THIS WAS NEVER ABOUT FAST FASHION

The ski industry changed.

Products became trend-driven.
Marketing became louder.
Quality became secondary.

SnowShepherd went the opposite direction.

The mission became simple:

Build products that survive real mountain conditions.

Not just one season.
Not just for photos.
Not just for social media.

Real equipment for real riders.

That philosophy shaped every product that followed:

Premium leather gloves.
Heavy-duty mittens.
Technical outerwear.
High-performance goggles.
Purpose-built mountain gear.

Everything designed with one priority:

Performance first.

BUILT DIFFERENT. BUILT TO LAST.

SnowShepherd products are inspired by the original durability of French mountain work gloves, but engineered for modern skiing and snowboarding using premium leather, waterproof membranes, insulation systems and technical materials.

Every stitch has purpose.

The mountains expose weakness fast.

Cheap materials crack.
Poor insulation fails.
Weak gloves soak through.
Bad goggles ruin days.

SnowShepherd exists to eliminate distraction.

So riders can focus on the line ahead.

The company now manufactures products using high-grade materials and sustainable production methods, including solar-powered manufacturing and community support projects providing education and clean drinking water in Pakistan.

Because building premium products also means building responsibly.

MORE THAN THE PISTE

SnowShepherd was never designed purely for groomers and resort laps.

It represents the riders chasing storms.
The riders hiking ridgelines before sunrise.
The riders dropping cliffs because fear is part of the addiction.

The image above captures exactly what SnowShepherd stands for.

Commitment.
Confidence.
Control.

No hesitation.

Just a rider fully locked into the moment, trusting their ability and trusting the equipment beneath them.

That’s the SnowShepherd mentality.

Not polished perfection.
Not luxury mountain culture.
Not pretending.

Real skiing.
Real weather.
Real mountains.

FROM A SMALL UK BRAND TO A GLOBAL COMMUNITY

What began as a small family-run operation in the UK has evolved into an international winter sports brand with customers, athletes and retail partners across Europe, the USA and New Zealand.

SnowShepherd products are now worn by ski instructors, mountain workers, free riders, patrol teams and everyday skiers looking for gear they can genuinely rely on.

And despite the growth, the mentality has never changed.

Still independent.
Still rider-owned.
Still mountain focused.

Still built by people who actually live this life.

THE FUTURE OF SNOWSHEPHERD

SnowShepherd continues expanding into outerwear, race collections, goggles and technical mountain apparel while staying rooted in the same philosophy it started with back in 2009.

The goal isn’t to become the biggest.

A brand riders trust when conditions get serious.

A brand that stands for quality over hype.
Performance over trends.
Purpose over shortcuts.

Because the mountain remembers what’s real.

And so do the people who truly ride it.

RIDE MORE. WORRY LESS.

DON’T BE A SHEEP.
