ABOUT US
Who are Snowshepherd and What Do We Do?
Snowshepherd was established in 2009 by Tim Shepherd, initially specializing in avalanche rescue equipment and airbags. At that time, airbags were not mainstream, but our specialized website and advice line worked well for us as a business.
In 2008, Brandon Shepherd, now at the helm of the business, stumbled upon the classic lifty glove during his time working in the Alps. Constantly disappointed with the durability and warmth of gloves he purchased each winter, he turned to locals for advice on where to find gloves that could withstand daily skiing. His search led him to a garden shop in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, where he discovered the enduring classic Venitex French Work gloves. These gloves were highly regarded among locals, ski guides, resort staff, and lift operators in France, lasting up to three seasons of rigorous daily use. Inspired by their durability and practicality, SnowShepherd began offering these gloves to meet the demands of winter sports enthusiasts seeking reliable performance in challenging conditions.
In 2009 We began with just two dozen pairs, which sold out in days. Surprised by the high demand, we ordered more. We never imagined we would become the only UK ski retailer selling these gloves and eventually a major manufacturer of leather ski gloves.
As avalanche equipment has become more mainstream, we are transitioning away from that side of the business to focus on Snowshepherd Gloves. Our gloves are inspired by the original French designs but are made with high-quality leather, waterproof and breathable membranes, and effective insulation. These are proper ski gloves that also perform well for work.
So what's next? We offer a full range of Snowshepherd gloves and mittens. In October 2024, we will launch the SnowShepherd Lotus Outerwear 2.0 and new Lotus bibs. Additionally, we have many new gloves and mitten models coming in, along with the new SnowShepherd Race collection.
Driven by a passion for skiing and a commitment to quality, SnowShepherd will expanded its product line to include a more gloves and mittens crafted from high-grade materials like cowhide leather, which we sun dry for durability . Each product undergoes meticulous design and testing to ensure it meets the rigorous demands of skiing and snowboarding. SnowShepherd integrates sustainable practices into its operations, such as utilizing solar power at its factory and supporting local communities by providing clean water and funding for education in Pakistan.
Today, SnowShepherd continues to innovate and evolve, maintaining its dedication to producing durable, sustainable ski gear that embodies the spirit of adventure and resilience in the mountains. The company's ethos of craftsmanship, sustainability, and commitment to quality remains at the core of everything it does, making SnowShepherd a trusted name among winter sports enthusiasts worldwide.
Brandon growing up, his mum would often tell him, "Don't be a sheep, you are a Shepherd." This advice stuck with him, inspiring him to lead the way rather than follow others. When rebranding Snowshepherd a few years back, it felt only fitting to honor Kerry Shepherd, who passed away in 2018, by embodying the spirit of "Don't be a sheep." Kerry was the true Shepherd, leading by example and never following the flock.
